Dr. Sven-Brian Müller, TenneT Offshore GmbH
TenneT is obliged and has committed itself to both the Dutch and German governments to realize fourteen 2 GW offshore grid connection systems to be commissioned between 2028 and 2031. The amount of offshore projects to be realised and the impact of these projects on TenneT as well as the limitations of the international supply chain make that a programmatic approach is key to success of realising these connections and projects. TenneT has initiated the 2GW Program to develop together with the market a new innovative 2 GW ±525kV HVDC grid connection standard - Bi-pole Point to Point connection with Metallic Return and Multi Terminal readiness - to connect the future offshore windfarms. This new 2 GW standard aims to further reduce the cost of offshore wind, minimize the spatial and environmental impact and doubles the connection capacity in comparison with the previous 900 MW HVDC standard. This new 2 GW standard will prepare TenneT for the planned acceleration of the energy transition in both, The Netherland and Germany. The presentation will give insides to the 2GW Program in general and contains a detailed look at the 2 GW offshore platform.
