The trend towards increasing container ship dimensions and the aim for high container stowage capacity on deck is also leading to increased lashing bridge dimensions. The increased lashing bridge dimensions are calling for a careful consideration of vibration aspects in the course of the lashing bridge design and of its shipside interfaces. To do so the dynamic characteristics such as stiffness, mass and damping must be known. Whereas for the lashing bridge itself those parameters are normally known, the influence of the container lashing and stowage on the dynamic response of the lashing bridge was rarely studied in the past. In the presentation the results of some full scale measurements and corresponding vibration simulations will be presented for lashed and unlashed lashing bridges.
